  2. Energy Consumption

  3. Emera Maine Delivery
Emera Maine is an electricity delivery company, bringing power to your home or business.
  4. Components of Delivery
    • Transmission recovers the costs of the high voltage system that transports bulk power. It can be helpful to think of transmission as the interstate highway of electricity delivery.
    • Distribution recovers the costs of the local system – poles, wires and substations – that delivers power from the transmission system to your home or business. Distribution is like local roads that get you from the highway to your home or community.
    • Stranded Costs include the costs of energy resource obligations entered into prior to electric industry restructuring. Also included are costs and benefits related to more recent long term contracts required through State policy, such as contracts with renewable generators.
    • ConservationEfficiency Maine Trust was created by the Legislature to deliver energy efficiency programs and services. It is funded in part by Conservation, a fee on electricity use.
  5. Electricity Supply
Customers have choice about who supplies the electricity Emera Maine delivers to your home or business. For efficiency and your convenience, Emera Maine provides billing services for your electricity supplier. Payments are forwarded to the supplier on your behalf.
    • Standard Offer Service is the default electricity supply that is managed and administered by the Maine Public Utilities Commission. Customers who do not choose a Competitive Electricity Provider receive Standard Offer Service.
    • Competitive Electricity Providers. If you buy your power from a competitive electricity provider (CEP), the price of your electricity is determined by your contract with your chosen provider. The Maine Office of the Public Advocate provides guidance on factors to consider when choosing an electricity supplier, at www.maine.gov/meopa/utilities/electric/supply.html.
