Quick Check Calculator

Welcome to Quick Checksm, Emera Maine’s online calculator which lets you conveniently perform a "quick check" of your daily electricity use.

Quick Checksm is easy to use. Our monthly statements show a column labeled "Energy Comparison," with your "KWH Per Day" use for this month (as well as last month and one year ago).

enabled.

INSTRUCTIONS
First, once you have a copy of the bill you wish to check, you'll enter the following information on the next screen:

  • Number of adults in your family (age 13 and older)
  • Number of children in your family (age 12 and under)
  • Your primary home heating system
(If you use electric heat, you'll be asked how many rooms have electric heat registers in them.)
  • Whether you use an electric water heater
  • Whether you use an electric clothes dryer

With that information, click on the "Quick Checksm" button. You'll be shown a range of typical  kiloWatt Hours (kWh) per day of electrical use. This is simply an estimate based on our research of consumer averages.

RESULTS
If the amount of KWH per Day on your billing statement is significantly higher than the range Quick Checksm reports, call Emera Maine and we'll review your energy usage with you.

  • The Bangor Hydro District includes Hancock, Piscataquis and Washington Counties and most of Penobscot County.
  • The Maine Public District serves Aroostook County and a small piece of Penobscot County.

Because some information varies by District, please identify your District on the map above, or enter your town or zipcode. If you need information on both Districts,  switch back and forth at any time by selecting the district selector button.
