• Pine Tree Zone Electrical Rate

In an effort to support economic development efforts in Maine, specifically those associated with the Maine Pine Tree Zone program, Bangor Hydro Electric Company has established a special rate for qualified businesses in Pine Tree economic development zones. The Pine Tree Zone Credit ('PTZC') tariff is available to those customers who demonstrate that Maine's Department of Economic and Community Development ('DECD') has certified it as a qualified Pine Tree Development Zone business. The Pine Tree Zone Credit tariff was approved by the Maine Public Utilities Commission effective January 1, 2009. Attached please find the application form for the program.

The high points for both customers and economic development professionals are:

• The business must be located in a Pine Tree Zone, and certified by the DECD as Pine Tree Zone qualified
• The business must be new or if existing, must increase electrical load by at least 10%.
• The business must request the rate from Bangor Hydro in writing, accompanied by a copy of its Pine Tree Zone Certificate of Qualification from the DECD.
• This Pine Tree Zone Credit gives qualified businesses in Bangor Hydro's service territory applicable discounts of (40%), (30%), (20%), and (10%), respectively in years 1 through 4, until the sunset date of December 31, 2012.
